Why Give A Handwritten Note After an Interview

Reasons why to give a handwritten letter after your interview

After you complete a job interview, it is a good idea to follow up with a thank-you note. Sure you can send an email, but sending a handwritten note shows that you are enthusiastic and conscientious.

Taking the time to write and send a thank-you note shows you put in a little extra effort and in the age of technology, handwritten notes in the mail are unexpected. A follow-up email is the norm, so when a potential employer receives your note, it can make you a memorable candidate.

Send an email right after the interview, but make sure you follow with a handwritten note the next day. If a thank-you note is not received in a timely manner, a potential job candidate may come across as unprofessional or not really interested. However, sending a note, even late, can still be more effective than only sending a thank-you email. Not sending a note at all may give an employer the impression you are not organized or do not want the job.

Keep your note simple. Use clean, bright white or cream stationery in a high-quality paper stock. Do not use colored paper.

Write neatly and double-check your spelling. If you are going through the steps to send a professional note, make sure you look it over before you send it.
