What Type of Dress Flatters a Petite Frame?

There are plenty of choices of dresses for petite women, from hip and trendy to classy, casual or chic. By following a few basic guidelines, you'll easily know how to choose a dress that most flatters your petite frame for any occasion.

Monochromatic Dress

Dresses that are one color elongate your body. A solid color dress with thin, vertical pinstripes also helps to make you appear taller. Dresses with small patterns, like small polka dots or tiny florals also work. You'll want to avoid large patterns, as they will overpower you.

Wrap Dress

A wrap dress is flattering on any figure, and is especially great on a petite woman. The adjustable belt cinches you at the waist---as loosely or snugly as you like---and hugs your figure to show it off. A low-cut neck draws the eye upward.

Mini and Knee Length

Mini and knee length dresses look great on petite women. You're showing some leg, which makes you appear taller, an illusion that is enhanced when you add a pair of high wedges or heels. Make sure the dresses are fitted, at least through the waist. A dress with an A-line bottom that hits at the knee is another winner. If you decide to wear a loose mini dress or tunic, belt it high above your waist so that your torso appears longer, and your legs will, too.
