Make a great first impression in an interview with a potential employer by dressing for the part and following a few tips on the do’s and don’ts of how to respond to common questions and you’ll do great!
· If asked why a job interests you, do not respond by providing ways the job might benefit you. Be sure to explain what about the job excites you and what skills and experience you have to bring to the table and highlight what you can bring to the position that might benefit the employer.
· If you are asked about your weaknesses during a job interview, be prepared to respond to this question. Do not respond by saying you do not have any weaknesses. Every person has weaknesses and sometimes a weakness may also be viewed as a strength.
· If you are asked what your salary expectations are for a job, do not give too broad a salary range. If you do, you may end up with an offer at the lower end of what you asked. If asked this question, you may want to respond by first asking what the employer is looking to offer for the position.
· Do not forget to follow up after the interview. Be sure to send a thank you note reiterating your interest in the job and you’ll stand out to the potential employer.
