Referrals speak louder then your work

Some people will feel confident in saying ‘my work speaks for itself.’ True your work will speak for itself, but is one person’s word as good as a group of supporting and credible referrals—it isn’t. If you do not have the referrals yet, pursue your passion, your work does have an impression, but continue searching for good positions that will give their blessings. With a referral you may only get a ‘she/he has worked with me and they’ve produced exceptional work’, I call this a general referral. You can acquire a more extravagant referral if you take initiative.

Talk to your employer; let them know what your career plans are, together seriously track what you’ve been doing for the company. So that when they get a phone call in regards to your performance your employer will speak highly of you, and will have had time to prepare. This can make all the difference, if you know where you are headed you will be a better worker for your current company, and you will have much more fun at work just by having a goal that motivates you to clock in.  You can report to your boss and ask them to access how you perform on at an upcoming showcase, go above and beyond, and ask to bring in a video camera to record footage of you at work on the sales floor. Set sales goals, be pro-active, and speak your opinion. Letting your employer in on your interest in a future referral may reflect onto your job duties, and you may be asked to do more, therefore earning a higher raise, potentially. Your employer is there for you just as you are there for them so remember we are all people in a business so negotiate terms that work out for both of you guys, it will always look good on their behalf to show off how ambitious and dedicated one of their past employees was, so let it be you.

When asked for referrals you don’t want to give a telephone number, you want to drop a name or you want to hand over a personalized referral letter from your past employer. Stating that you worked for a prestigious individual well in turn give you spotlight. If you were under their limelight then you must have learned great skills, if you can refer to major accomplishments and explain how you contributed in the least you will impressive someone; everyone knows that it takes team effort to make it big and you expressed how you’d be an asset. Credible or not, if your employer writes you a detailed referral letter, outlining your stats for the duration of your employment as well as a personalized message to your new employer you will glow with potential for hire. Referrals will get you the job, and ask your current or past employers about referrals they’d love to do it.
