Both Facebook and LinkedIn will help you secure your dream jobs in the fashion industry. Separately, and if used properly you can use either social media to successfully present who you are, and what you can do. Together, having both of these sites listed on your resume—will double the affect. Here’s why, utilizing one platform to present yourself is impressive, but using two is more effective because you were able to capitalize on different platforms, showing how unique you are. Have them both, because they will tell employers different things about you. Facebook will tell employers that you are popular, able to engage an audience, and constantly updating and pursing your dreams—because Facebook Feed does time stamp how often you are on. All are examples of a great worker. Not to mention that you may upload videos, seminars, start workshops, and post work samples that not only show your capability but also show how people receive your work. LinkedIn on the other hand is even more so helpful for professionals to land a job. Friends, colleagues, past employers, as well as future employers all may ‘endorse’ your skills. Meaning they vouch for you, stating that you are good at the skill you say you are good at. Employers love to look at who has endorsed you, I once read an article where a CEO said, if his friend from another company or just a successful businessman/businesswoman from another company, has endorsed a candidate that he is considering interviewing, he is going to hire that person. LinkedIn allows you to write, update, upload, and have fans like Facebook, but LinkedIn is made for professionals to communicate. You may not be able to send a request to someone you seek to speak with, but that doesn’t mean they don’t want to speak to anyone outside of their friends. They want you to do research I learned, recon, learn about them and their business before approaching a job. Try going to the ‘Contact Us’ section on a business page, copying the general email, and using it to connect with a person on LinkedIn. Most of the times, they make it that simple for you to connect, but many times you may need to be ‘introduced’ or know them. Yet, you may always send them a message, so be creative. Rehash: Facebook audience will show that you are powerful in terms of communicating or delivering quality work that people are intrigued by, enough to request you and like your friends. LinkedIn endorsements will co-sign your expertise. Go for it.
