5 Rules for Appropriate Shoes at Work
We all love our closet full of shoes and it is easy to choose foot wear for the workplace that will look both fashionable and professional. Just follow these simple guidelines to look stylish and polished at the office.
1.No open-toe shoes.
You should look prepared for work. Stay away from flip flops and strappy sandals, even on casual Fridays. Save those looks for the weekend.
2.Be comfortable.
Convey the image that you are ready to work. Loafers, flats and conservative, simple boots – such as riding boots or lace-up ankle boots – are good options.
3.Look put-together.
Do wear shoes that coordinate with your outfit. Don footwear that is clean and polished for a neat and tidy look.
4.Color!
Shoes in neutral colors, such as navy, black, beige and brown shades, are versatile and will look refined. Don’t be afraid to try more bold colors, just make sure you pair the shoes with a conservative outfit to balance out your look. Red flats, for instance, will complement a black skirt or pants and a white blouse and are a unique touch to a chic but refined ensemble.
5.Heels or No Heels?
Pumps no more than 2“-high with a stacked heel or wedge sole are recommended. Higher heels can look unprofessional. Save stiletto shoes for night time.Sling-backs are okay, but avoid mules. They are too casual for the office.
