I’ve worked retail, door-to-door sales, freelance, and fast-food. I never failed at these positions for two simple reasons. I either loved what I did, or I found something in it to love. It was very hard, and can be very hard for everyone, but there’s something there you just have to find it. All of my positions involve me working face to face with people; I love to communicate, so that’s what I looked forward to every day. I wanted to listen to my customers and clients and co-workers stories, they’re ups and even they’re downs. I got lucky here because rarely do you find people who love people and I am fortunate enough to be one of them. Fashion is easy to love, hard to hate. Our eyes are the most powerful of our five senses, and they fall in love so easily. What knock us out of love are the hardships that we have taught ourselves, the knowledge we’ve built and the mileage we’ve added to our brains. It’s sometimes too excessive when you look at something distant to your lifestyle you shouldn’t see a challenge. You should say what I say” wow, look at that opportunity, what are the steps to get there.” Some of our goals are out of reach until we dismiss failure. Freelance fashion writing was way out of my jurisdiction before I started. But my love for fashion made me inquire on how to follow through—in order to do something I loved. All it takes is a skip in your heart-beat; if you are interested in something do you research, make the right friends, build the right skills, and try it out. You only live once, there are 7 days in a week you can devote some time to your passions. The dimmer side of life is when you are idle. Doing something you hate is okay only when you are striving to get towards doing something you love. So it’s never too late, just look inside of yourself and contemplate what you want, and you will see that the thing you hate will become a stepping stone, a crossing bridge, an internship to your dream job.
When I hated any of my past positions I was stuck, didn’t know how to get out. It was only when I exhaled that I realized that I do have time and opportunity is there, I read about it online in success stories, I seen it in the faces of people who love their jobs. I stopped dreaming and lived it out.
