Mama's Prayer is a new dynamic gospel stage play written by newcomer Reginald A. Batiste & directed by Brandon Jamal Gardner will be hosting it SECOND auditions: Mama’s Prayer Is an inspirational stage play that will make you laugh, cry, but most of all think about your personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Mama’s Prayer is about a strong Christian woman who holds her family together through her Christian values, despite the trials and tribulations that lie within her family. This play will suck you in and have you cheering for this family and what they stand for. With brand new original music, Mama’s Prayer is nothing like those gospel plays you have seen before, and it’s sure to be one for the ages. We are looking for actors who can both act and sing. This is a great opportunity to experience a new kind of play, gain more experience to add to your resume/ portfolio, and receive good exposure. Auditions will be: FRIDAY, AUGUST 28, 2009 Auditions will be held: TO BE ANNOUNCED Please be able to provide us with 16 bars of a song including chorus from a GOSPEL song. Also the audition will be cold read but if you have a prepared monologue that would be GREAT. Character Descriptions: If you do not fit the age range of the character or the ethnicity, but you are over the age of 18, than please audition because makeup can do wonders. Mama: Early 40’s s to late 40’s- a strong woman who keeps her family together through Christian values, very wise. Father: Early 40’s to late 40’s- a hard working man whom is a positive role model, loves his family that is the nucleus that keeps the family together. Clair: Mid 30’s to late 40’s- friend of the family and Mama’s best friend, she has a witty, loud, and has a funny sense of humor, single and would love to be married. Male 1: Late teens to early 20’s-son- Raised in the church but gone astray due to his friends and other influence from the outside world. Male 2: Late teens to early20’s- boyfriend of daughter- Arrogant, jerk, selfish, womanzier, and show off. Female 1: Late teens to early 20’s-daughter- Young College student who is focusing on her studies, trying to manage her boyfriend, while living a wholesome life for God. Female 2: Late teens to early 20’s- friend of the daughter- College student who suffered a loss of her mother and feeling lonely but trying to find her way. Pastor: Mid 30’s to late 40’s- Handsome, single, new in town and just started a new church. Waiter: Mid 20’s to mid 30’s-Comedian Please send us an email so we can set up your audition time as well.
