When you want to get the best bang for your buck with a wedding photographer you will want to have a rough idea as to what your expectations are of the photographer, and in order to do this you will want to try and sit down with them at least on three different occasions before the wedding. Go over their lenses, what they would be able offer, what you expect of them, and overall give them a schedule of the event so that they know where they need to be, and what you expect.  Keeping the photographer busy at wedding isn’t the most difficult task, just let them know what your want from your wedding photos and what you expect of their services. Communication is key.
