****** is seeking a hard-working and reliable seamstress/tailor/assistant for our warehouse location. This is a valuable and important position within the company, and the ideal candidate would be an organized, self-starter who is detail oriented with a passion for vintage/fashion. This is a unique, fun and challenging position that calls for someone who is able to wear many hats, possess necessary skills but also learn at a fast pace, and be flexible. You must be able to make minor (and sometimes major) repairs, as well as perform sewing tasks including but not limited to replacing/fixing buttons, replacing zippers, seams, and hems. You must at least possess a basic knowledge of sewing machines (including embroidery and industrial). In addition to repairing garments regularly, you will also be responsible for preparing merchandise for our store locations, trade shows, sales, and appointments. You will have the opportunity to interact with some of the world’s best design teams and costume designers, both at our warehouse and archive.

We are looking for someone who can handle and meet deadlines, often under high pressure. You will need to be able to troubleshoot, propose solutions, and have ideas about sourcing necessary materials for clothing and accessories repair and preservation.

This is a FULL TIME position, offering at least 40 hours a week. The regular schedule is Monday-Friday. You must be able to work occasional weekends and have the flexibility to exceed or adjust your normal hours if necessary. Please DO NOT apply if you are not looking for a long term commitment.

Job responsibilities include:
-Managing and performing merchandise repairs, alterations, tailoring, restoration, and preservation
-Caring for and laundering various types of clothing
-Cleaning garments by hand washing, line drying, using the washer/dryer, and other cleaning machines
-Use of various different products for garment care, revival, and restoration
-Managing merchandise drycleaning schedule
-Steaming and ironing clothing
-Preparing merchandise for the store location, trade shows, sales, pop-ups and more
-Caring for and maintain the merchandise in the warehouse, store, archive, etc.
-Managing, organizing, cleaning, and maintaining the warehouse
-Assisting in maintaining and managing the supply stock at the warehouse
-Delivering merchandise, supplies, etc. between the warehouse, archive, and store
-Running various errands
-Assisting the owners and company manager in various needs/tasks
-Passion for clothing, especially vintage, is ideal.

Applicant must be comfortable with:
-Using a sewing machine and other sewing tools
-Using various types of chemicals
-Cleaning used clothing
-Cleaning used shoes and other accessories
-Preparation of clothing including the use of professional steamer and iron, etc.
-Using tall ladders
-Heavy lifting

-The ability to repair and alter clothing/accessories is REQUIRED
-Knowledge of various care and cleaning techniques (detergents and solutions; their application and results on different materials is a MUST)
-Knowledge of clothing, including terminology, styles, fabrics, labels, etc.
-Knowledge of vintage clothing, including eras, styles, designers, etc.
-Ability to work independently and collaborate well with a team
-Comfortable taking direction and advice from team members
-Must be practical, neat, organized, intuitive, proactive, and positive
-Availability to work on the weekends for certain occasions
-Using tall ladders and heavy lifting
-English speaking; Eligible to work in US
-Valid driver’s license is a plus
-Background in fashion (from school or previous work experience) is a plus

Note: This job requires working with sewing machines, heavy packages, and the use of high ladders; it involves working with detergent and cleaning products. This job may not be well-suited for people with certain allergies such as to chemicals, dust, animal hair or other.
