****** is looking for two shopping reporters who can produce snappy and seriously-researched articles on a daily basis. The ideal reporter has a passion for cooking gear, and loves to get into the weeds of test-driving everything from vegetable peelers to stand mixers to melamine plateware. They should be able to write about shopping with voice, clarity, humor, and—most of all—authority.
One of these reporters will lean more towards cooking, while the other will lean more towards design (tableware, linens, kitchen and dining furniture). But both should be enthusiastic home cooks who are passionate about finding the best and most interesting cooking and dining products on the internet.
Reporting, and writing (or refreshing) upwards of 15 stories a week
Tracking the cooking industry to stay on top of trends and sales
Applying SEO best practices to commerce-driven posts
Pitching new ways to cover commerce: columns, features, videos, etc.
Merchandising the site, newsletters, and social channels so that great product content is prominently featured and promoted
Working with our food, photo, and editorial teams to ensure that promoted products are on-trend and on-brand
Hosting instructional and/or narrative videos
The perfect candidate is a voice-y writer who knows how to make shopping articles must-read content. They have used data and analytics to optimize revenue generation, but they have a keen eye and knows how to curate the perfect products for avid home cooks. They are comfortable both in the kitchen and in front of the camera. Experience in commerce-focused editorial is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated mastery of testing and reviewing products in a methodical, comparative manner
Familiarity with purchasing data and site analytics
Familiarity with the process of producing photo and video shoots for product content
Experience working closely and collaboratively with editorial, food, social, advertising, engineering, photo and design teams
Familiarity with SEO best practices, user testing, and reader surveys
Strong organizational skills, a self-directed work style, and polished communication skills
The ideal candidate loves cooking and is familiar with kitchen tools and other gizmos. You can love eating, too. We tend to have lots of snacks around here.
